  • DID YOU KNOW..
  •  The average age when people first try alcohol is 11 years old for boys and 13 years old for girls.
  •  By age 14, 41% of teenagers have had least one drink.

  • The average age at which American teenagers begin drinking regularly is 15.9 years.
  • Teens that begin drinking before age 15 are five times more likely to develop alcohol dependence than those who do not drink before age 21.
  •  It has been estimated that over three million teenagers are full-out alcoholics. Several million   more have serious drinking problems that they cannot manage on their own.
  •  More than half (58%) of high school seniors report having been drunk at least once in their life. One fifth (20%) of 8th graders report having been drunk at least once in their life.
  • Teens cite other people’s homes as the most common setting for drinking.
  • The strongest risk factors for suicide in youth are substance abuse, depression, and aggressive behavior.
